We offer

Vive la France! Do you need documents translating from German into French, or the other way around? Then it’s time you contacted us at Sprachlabor.

We are experts in German-French and French-German translation and have access to a wide network of specialist translators. It goes without saying that we only commission native speakers for your translations. Particularly in the case of French, we are also careful to take regional and international variation into account (e.g. metropolitan French, Belgian French, Quebecois), depending on the country in which your translation is to be used.

As well as a native mastery of French/German, other pre-requisites for high quality translation include an in-depth knowledge of the field in question, a sensitivity for the material to be translated and a familiarity with pertinent terminology.

Sprachlabor only commission translators with the necessary qualifications and skills, and who have proven success in your specialist field.

About the language

French belongs to the romance group of the italic branch of the Indo-Germanic language family, making it closely related to Italian, Spanish, Catalan, Portuguese, Romanian and Romansch. With approximately 200 million speakers worldwide, French is a recognised global language and, after English, is the second most commonly learnt foreign language in the world. The French language is regulated by the Académie française in Paris.

In addition to metropolitan France itself, French is an official language in Belgium, Luxembourg, Monaco, Switzerland, Canada, Haiti, and numerous western and central African countries (including Senegal, Niger, Burundi, Rwanda, Benin and Togo). French is also a commonly used second language in Arabic speaking North Africa (Algeria, Morocco, and Tunisia) as well as in Indochina (Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia). Even today, French still plays a significant role in international diplomacy, human rights, culture, business and transport.

The ISO 639-1 code for French is “fr”.
